Leon King ‘to assess options’ as Rangers exit plan collapses
Leon King may not leave Rangers after all.
The 21-year-old centre-back was expected to leave Ibrox, with Wycombe Wanderers agreeing a deal with the Gers.
The young defender had just one year left on is contract and was understood to be surplus to requirements under Russell Martin.
King featured five times for the Light Blues last season before being sent on loan to Queen’s Park in March.

King move from Rangers to Wycombe collapses
The Scottish youngster was set to join the League One outfit after struggling in Martin’s first match, the 2-2 draw in a pre-season friendly with Club Brugge.
However, a report from Daily Record (8 July) claims that the proposed move is set to collapse after an undisclosed fee was agreed.
It states that King is now assessing his options elsewhere as he seeks a departure from the Govan outfit but could also wait to leave on a free transfer next summer.

Rangers should still sell King
Despite the move to the Adams Park side falling through, the Gers should still allow King to leave in this transfer window.
He has not progressed enough to be a regular contributor in the Scottish Premiership or the Champions League.

Martin has already brought Emmanuel Fernandez in at centre-back with Nasser Djiga and Conor Coady set to follow him to Auchenhowie.
Therefore, it will be nearly impossible for the academy graduate to get minutes, and it makes sense for both parties to move on from each other as soon as possible.
He was seen as one of Rangers‘ most exciting prospects when he first broke into the first-team fold, being linked with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, but has failed to kick on and develop as was expected.
The 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh, the new majority owners, need to be ruthless if they are to bridge the gap to Celtic as soon as possible.
Getting rid of King seems to show that they are willing to be exactly that, and bodes well for the future under the Americans, in which catching Brendan Rodgers’ side will be a tough task.
