Jamie Vardy ‘ticks boxes’ ahead of new Rangers transfers
Rangers have been constantly linked with a move for former Leicester star Jamie Vardy.
The 38-year-old announced his departure from the Foxes at the end of the season after 13 years, the majority of which were in the Premier League.
The ex-England star notched nine goals and four assists last season and could still do a job for the Ibrox outfit if he was signed.
Vardy seemed set to move to Genoa in Italy but Patrick Vieira, the Serie A club’s sporting director, pulled the plug on the deal.

Vardy to Rangers mooted after Martin silence
Russell Martin refused to comment about Vardy when he was asked after the Gers’ 2-2 draw with Club Brugge in their first pre-season friendly.
Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack believes that the ex-Leicester man would be a genuine option for the Light Blues, as well as PSV forward Luuk De Jong, due to the experience that they would bring.
Speaking on the Tuesday Morning Briefing (8 July), he said: “On an experienced striker, I think that type of profile, would be a really interesting one, a Vardy type or a De Jong type.
“Not going to be a guaranteed starter, to give you 50 games over the course of a season, not someone that you are going to run into the ground by playing 90 minutes on a Sunday, 90 minutes in midweek then 90 minutes the following week.
“As an option, as someone to play their part in the squad and the dressing room, as well, you are looking for a bit of character, leadership, and experience, I think both of those guys would certainly tick a couple of boxes.”
Rangers need a new striker
The Bears are crying out for at least one new forward ahead of the new season, with Scottish Premiership and Champions League commitments.
The likes of Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane are attracting significant attention in the market, and the Gers could need two new strikers if both end up leaving Govan in this window.
Vardy and De Jong would raise the levels in the Gers’ squad, due to their experience of winning trophies at the highest level.
The Englishman won the Premier League title with the King Power Stadium outfit in the 2015/16 season and the FA Cup in the 2020/21 campaign, as well as multiple individual awards.
Meanwhile, the Dutch attacker also boasts several accolades of his own and has won six Eredivisie titles with FC Twente and the Eindhoven-based club, as well as the Europa League when he played for Sevilla.
Either option would be a great choice for Martin, or if they could get both, they could rotate them depending on who is in better condition and have a lethal strike force, with or without Igamane and Dessers.
