Russell Martin confirms Rangers defender exit on the cards

Russell Martin has a tough job on his hands at Rangers as he aims to bring the right players through the door, but also sanction exits.

Gers have already signed Max Aarons, Emmanuel Fernandez and Joe Rothwell and more signings are expected to be made.

However, at the same time, it is important for the Ibrox outfit to show certain players the door, either on loan or on a permanent basis.

Russell Martin confirms Clinton Nsiala loan exit on the cards

Martin was interviewed by the press after the 2-2 draw against Club Brugge on Sunday, 6 July.

This was his first game in charge of his new side, albeit an unofficial one.

After full-time, he confirmed that Clinton Nsiala will be allowed to leave this summer, potentially on a loan.

He admitted that he needs to be playing regularly at this stage of his career, as he’s currently a 21-year-old.

Rangers and Nsiala will benefit from a loan this summer

A loan exit for Nsiala this summer would benefit both Rangers and the defender.

Having signed from AC Milan in 2024, he has shown promise but struggled for consistent first-team minutes.

A loan to a competitive league, such as the English Championship, would provide the 21-year-old with regular game time, crucial for developing his physical and technical skills.

This experience would enhance his readiness to compete for a spot against Rangers’ established defenders like Robin Propper and John Souttar.

For the Ibrox outfit, the loan preserves the Frenchman’s potential while freeing squad space for experienced signings, aligning with their rebuild under new ownership.

His growth could boost his future value, offering the club long-term financial and on-pitch benefits.
