Hamza Igamane transfer: Rangers exit plunged into doubt after news from France

Hamza Igamane’s Rangers exit may not be as straightforward as expected.

The 22-year-old seemed destined to leave Ibrox, with reports from Morocco claiming that Lille had agreed a £12.8million fee with the Gers.

Ibrox News understands that the player has already confirmed his intention to join Les Dogues and has agreed on contract terms.

However, the deal may be set to stall after the latest developments emerged from the Ligue 1 side.

Lille set to move on from Rangers star Igamane

It seems that the reports of a deal being agreed were wide of the mark, with Rangers still wanting a higher fee for Igamane.

A report from Le Petit Lillois (4 July) claims that the Gers are holding firm on their £17.2million valuation of the Moroccan.

It states that the French outfit are now looking at alternative targets, in case the move falls through and they cannot agree on a fee.

Rangers could still keep Igamane

The Light Blues could ultimately keep hold of Igamane, as he is a useful asset who notched 12 goals in his first Scottish Premiership campaign after moving for £1.5m from FAR Rabat last summer.

It would not be a disaster by any means if they did not sell him this summer, as another good campaign in Scotland could increase his value even further.

Also, they could lose the prolific Cyriel Dessers, so keeping another promising attacker would not be a bad move at all for the Glasgow giants.

Alternatively, the sides may end up coming to a compromise, and Igamane may still end up moving to the Stade Pierre Mauroy, later on in the transfer window

However, as of right now, he remains a Gers player, although Russell Martin will probably not be planning for him to be in Govan when the new season starts, given the interest in his services and his willingness to leave Auchenhowie.

There are plenty of other clubs that are interested in the one-cap international, including Everton, West Ham and Brentford, and they could take advantage of the impasse with Lille if it drags on for much longer.
