Rangers handed ‘green signal’ to seal Luka Jelenic transfer
Rangers are keen on bolstering their defensive ranks and have been linked with a move for NK Osijek defender Luka Jelenic.
Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the Croatian’s fitness record over the course of the last season ahead of a potential transfer this summer.
Emmanuel Fernandez has already joined Rangers, but the club are still looking for more centre-back options.

Luka Jelenic fitness record last season hailed by Doctor
The Osijek defender has an impressive fitness record but may take some time to adapt to life in Scotland, according to Dr Brar.
Rangers are serious about signing Jelenic and could even table a bid to secure his services. (24sata, 20 June)
Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
---|---|---|---|
NK Varazdin | 64 | 1 | 1 |
NK Osijek | 40 | 2 | 2 |
Din. Zagreb II | 36 | – | – |
Inter Zapresic | 28 | – | – |
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, exclusively told Ibrox News: “He had a fantastic injury record last season and that bodes well for any foreign club signing him.
“Obviously, he will take a while to adapt to a new country and league, but there’s no reason his game time will be restricted, provided he has a good pre season.
“Should face no issues clearing his medical either.“

Rangers must look at alternatives to Jelenic
Jelenic could be a risky signing for Rangers due to his limited experience at the elite level.
Despite a solid record, his career has been confined to the Croatian league, with brief Europa Conference League exposure.
The step up to the Scottish Premiership and Champions League qualifiers against teams like Panathinaikos demands proven adaptability, which the 25-year-old lacks compared to players from Europe’s top five leagues.
The Ibrox outfit’s defensive struggles last season, compounded by John Souttar’s injury concerns and Robin Propper’s potential departure, highlight the need for a seasoned centre-back like Conor Coady, who brings Premier League experience and leadership.
Jelenic’s potential is undeniable, but his untested profile risks instability in Gers’ high-stakes rebuild under Russell Martin.
