Peterborough exit fee revealed as Rangers announce Fernandez transfer

Rangers announced two new signings on Wednesday, with one of them being Emmanuel Fernandez from Peterborough United.

Joe Rothwell completed his switch to Ibrox from Bournemouth on 2 July, and hours later, the addition of a new centre-back was also announced.

Russell Martin will have Fernandez at his disposal as he prepares to face Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualifier.

After an impressive season with the League One outfit, winning the EFL Trophy, fans will be looking forward to seeing the 23-year-old defender at the Glaswegian outfit.

Rangers pay around £3.5m for Fernandez transfer from Peterborough

Peterborough will receive around £3.5million from the Gers for Fernandez, according to Anthony Joseph.

The Sky Sports journalist revealed on X (2 July) that the Light Blues and the Posh have agreed a deal that includes add-ons for the English defender.

Fernandez has been announced as a new signing at Ibrox and has penned a four-year deal at the Glaswegian club.

It will be interesting to see how the 23-year-old centre-back will go about his business at the Bears in the upcoming campaign.

Martin delighted with defensive additions at Ibrox

Bournemouth right-back Max Aarons completed a loan move to the Gers recently, becoming the first summer arrival under the new owners.

Conor Coady is another defender the Bears have their eyes on, with a potential deal with Leicester City imminent.

Joe Rothwell’s move to Ibrox also demonstrates the ambition of the American owners at the Light Blues, following his influential performances for Leeds United last season.

Martin will undoubtedly be delighted with the number of early additions being made by Ranger during pre-season.

Wolves centre-back Nasser Djiga is also being eyed by the Gers, with a loan deal being explored for the Burkina Faso international.

Kevin Thelwell undoubtedly needed to make early moves to build a competitive squad for the former Southampton head coach before next season starts.

While things look promising in G51, whether the incoming transfers can meet expectations remains to be seen.
