Burrows reacts to Emmanuel Fernandez transfer

Martin’s latest summer signing has been confirmed as Peterborough’s Emmanuel Fernandez for a fee of £3.5million.

The young defender has impressed for the Posh in recent seasons and joins Rothwell and Aarons in the switch from England to Scotland.

Peterborough’s chairman, Darragh MacAnthony, expressed delight at the role he played in the English defender’s transfer to Glasgow.

The Posh chairman signed Fernandez on a free in 2021 and was crucial in ensuring their League One survival, banking millions in the process.

During Fernandez’s time in England, he learned from and played alongside Burrows.

Following his move to Rangers, Burrows commented: “Manny” alongside a heart emoji on his Instagram post announcing his move to Gers, congratulating the defender on the move.

Rangers had also been in the race for fellow Peterborough star Kwame Poku before he made the switch to Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

Burrows could follow Fernandez to Rangers

Russell Martin and the 49ers have shown they have a breadth of knowledge when it comes to English football.

Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see players like Burrows follow Fernandez to Glasgow, although there are no links, making it hypothetical right now.

23-year-old Burrows impressed at Sheffield United after signing for the Blades last summer.

Having missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season, Sheffield United could face a battle to keep hold of their better players this summer, and Burrows could be one.
