David Brooks to Rangers transfer now on cards as door officially opens

Rangers could raid Bournemouth again to sign David Brooks.

The Gers have already signed two players from the Premier League outfit and could be set to add a third Cherries star to their ranks.

Max Aarons and Joe Rothwell have already been signed from the South Coast club, on a season-long loan and a permanent transfer, respectively.

The Ibrox outfit are looking to strengthen ahead of the new season, and bridge the 17-point gap to arch-rivals Celtic.

Rangers can reunite Brooks and Martin

Brooks, who has one-year left on his contract, worked with new Rangers boss Russell Martin when he joined Southampton on loan in January 2024.

A report from Sky Sports (3 July) claims that the door has now opened for the Gers to reunite Brooks with Martin.

It states that the collapse of the 27-year-old’s move to West Brom could lead to a switch to the Govan outfit.

Martin is set for a good start at Rangers

Bringing in players who have worked under Martin before can only be a good thing, as they will know exactly how he wants to play and will not need any adaptation period.

Brooks is a versatile player, who can feature as an attacking midfielder or a winger, and has proven his quality in the top-flight in England, he would be a top-class addition for the Light Blues.

The 35-cap Wales international would add creativity that the Gers are lacking with the departures of Vaclav Cerny and Tom Lawrence.

He has previously revealed that he would be open to the idea of joining his former boss in Glasgow, saying: “If he wants to, I’m open to it!

“His style of play and the way he is as a guy, I think he’s an extremely good manager and he’s going to do great things.

“If he wants to take me wherever he ends up, then he can do.”

The Auchenhowie side have also added Emmanuel Fernandez and Lyall Cameron, but they need more additions if they to catch up with Brendan Rogers’ side anytime soon, rather than falling further behind them.

The Gers need to get this deal done, Brooks has already admitted that he would like to make the move and he is a Premier League quality player, it is a no-brainer.

They clearly already have a solid rapport with Andoni Iraola’s side and can surely leverage that once again and seal a deal.
