Samuel Ballet ‘set for transfer’ as Rangers interest revealed

Rangers are reportedly looking to sign Como forward Samuel Ballet in the summer transfer window.

With Hamza Igamane on the verge of joining Lille, the 55-time champions are keen on signing a replacement.

Cyriel Dessers could also bid farewell to his teammates at Ibrox as he’s linked with a move to AEK Athens.

Ballet spent last season on loan at FC Zurich, but he could be set for pastures new in the coming weeks.

Rangers in concrete talks to sign Samuel Ballet

According to German media outlet Blick Sports (29 June), Gers are in concrete talks to sign the 24-year-old winger-cum-striker.

While Zurich want him on loan for another season, that option appears to be increasingly unlikely, as things stand.

Rangers are in concrete talks to sign him, but they are not the only side showing an active interest in his services.

Norwich City and Trabzonspor are also in advanced conversations to bring the Swiss forward to their respective clubs.

While he’s expected to join training with his Como teammates, an exit is the likelier scenario this summer.

Russell Martin could do with a winger like Balet

To maximise Ballet’s potential at Rangers, Russell Martin should leverage the young winger’s pace, dribbling and flair within his possession-based, attacking system.

Martin can deploy Ballet on the right wing in a 4-3-3, encouraging him to exploit one-on-one situations against full-backs, using his agility to create chances or even ask him to lead the line.

Regular training drills focusing on decision-making in the final third will sharpen Ballet’s finishing and crossing, areas where his three goals and two assists in 26 Super League games suggest room for growth.

Martin may look to foster confidence through consistent game time, while tactically instructing Ballet to link up with overlapping full-backs and cut inside to combine with midfielders, enhancing the Ibrox outfit’s attacking fluidity.
