Rangers set for Conor Coady transfer ‘green light’ in triple signing

Conor Coady is a Rangers target this summer as Russell Martin plans to upgrade his backline.

The former England international has been a Premier League regular for years and is most famous for his time at Wolves.

Now at Leicester City, the 32-year-old was unable to prevent the Foxes’ relegation to the Championship last season.

As a result, Rangers are aiming to sign Coady in the coming weeks to add more experience and quality to their defence.

Coady to Rangers edges closer

Earlier this week, it was reported that Coady’s move to Rangers was expected to be completed within days.

Yet, with the weekend now here, the deal has not become official, with the defender still a Leicester player.

According to the Daily Record (28 June), Ruud van Nistelrooy’s sacking at the Foxes on Friday has “slowed down” Coady’s move to Ibrox.

However, Leicester are still expected to give the 32-year-old the “green light” to move to Rangers, with a long-term contract to be offered.

On top of this, the Gers are working on deals to sign Liverpool left-back Owen Beck and Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Dor Turgeman, in what could be a triple swoop for Martin.

Rangers need transfers completed before Panathinaikos clash

Unlike many teams around Europe, Rangers’ season essentially starts in mid-July, given their Champions League qualifiers.

Therefore, Martin needs as many signings as possible over the line for this clash to ensure they are prepared to take on the Greek side.

If Coady, Beck and Turgeman can all be signed before the clash, it would be a massive boost for Rangers for the match.

The financial implications of winning the tie are huge, and the trio would all help to achieve this.

Hopefully, over the next week, their moves to Ibrox will become official ready for their upcoming game against Panathinaikos.
