Chris Jack shares transfer update after De Jong green-light at Rangers

PSV Eindhoven striker Luuk de Jong could potentially move to Rangers this transfer window as Kevin Thelwell looks for reinforcements.

AEK Athens have shown interest in Cyriel Dessers, but so far the Greek outfit haven’t found an agreement with the Gers for his signing.

Hamza Igamane could also be on his way to LOSC Lille soon, with the Light Blues demanding £20million for the Moroccan youngster after his breakthrough season at Ibrox.

The Glaswegian outfit will undoubtedly need replacements if they lose two numbers nines in the coming weeks, and an update has emerged regarding De Jong.

De Jong transfer rumours to Rangers dismissed

There are no suggestions that De Jong could potentially move to the Gers this summer, Chris Jack says.

The Scottish journalist revealed that he has seen the rumours but hasn’t heard anything to corroborate the stories of the 39-capped Netherlands international’s transfer to Ibrox.

Jack feels the 34-year-old may be a decent option for the Light Blues, but it remains to be seen whether the Bears will make an approach for him.

Speaking on the Rangers Review (27 June), the journalist said: “I think he could certainly do a job for Rangers, but it’s not one that we have heard. I saw the rumours yesterday. Not had anything on it to suggest there’s anything in it.”

Russell Martin will need new strikers after Dessers and Igamane exits

De Jong has reportedly green-lit a transfer to Ibrox, with the former Barcelona ace open to leaving PSV in the coming weeks.

The 34-year-old has been prolific for the Eredivisie outfit in recent seasons, but the Gers fans may not be happy about seeing an ageing centre-forward being signed.

Fans expect Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises to start a new era at the Light Blues after years of disappointments due to mismanagement at the top.

Rangers have so far only signed Max Aarons under their new ownership, with Lyall Cameron’s pre-contract terms being agreed a few months back.

Conor Coady’s transfer to the Gers from Leicester City could also be on the cards, but some of the Ibrox faithful are questioning the addition of a defender who is arguably past his prime age.

If Dessers and Igamane were to leave, one would think the Light Blue would get at least a couple of number nines in before the start of next season.

Danilo showed glimpses of his talent in the previous campaign, but the Brazilian forward’s consistent fitness issues make him unreliable.

Only time will tell whether De Jong is a serious target for the Glaswegian outfit this summer.
