Aaron Ramsdale ‘to pick Rangers’ after Premier League transfer claim
Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale could potentially replace Jack Butland at Rangers this transfer window.
Russell Martin may reunite with the ex-Arsenal ace, with the Gers being linked with the England international after the Saints were relegated.
Barry Ferguson lost faith in Butland towards the end of last season, and it remains to be seen whether the new head coach will give the 32-year-old an opportunity to retain his place in the starting lineup.
Ramsdale has suffered another relegation in his career with Southampton, but there’s no doubt he possesses a lot of quality, and the Glaswegian outfit’s chances of signing the 27-year-old have been discussed.

Rangers to beat Galatasaray to Ramsdale transfer but Premier League move more realistic
Ramsdale should choose the Gers over Galatasaray if those are his two choices, Lee Hendrie says.
The Sky Sports pundit believes that between the Scottish Premiership outfit and the Super Lig club, the English shot-stopper’s switch to Ibrox would be the likely choice.
Hendrie thinks that the 27-year-old still has a lot to offer, though, and expects him to join a Premier League outfit in the coming weeks.
Competition | Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets |
Premier League | 30 | 66 | 3 |
Speaking to Football League World (24 June), the ex-Aston Villa midfielder said: “I think that going up to Scotland might be a bit of a backwards step for him. That is no disrespect to the league. I just think he has got more to offer at this moment in time.
“If you look at the two clubs — Rangers and Galatasaray — Rangers would be the one that I would certainly be looking to pick, but I still think he will end up at a Premier League club. I really do.”

Martin should use links to sign Ramsdale at Ibrox
Martin has certainly used his links with Max Aarons to convince the Bournemouth star to sign on loan for the Gers this summer.
The ex-Southampton boss worked with Ramsdale for a few months before being sacked by the Hampshire outfit, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him lure the English goalkeeper to Glasgow.
Conor Coady is another Premier League star who the Light Blues are looking at right now, indicating the pull the 39-year-old head coach may have.
Rangers have the opportunity to offer players a chance to compete for domestic titles and European success if they can get past the qualifiers.
Ramsdale showed a lot of promise during his time at Arsenal, but his career was derailed a bit after David Raya arrived in North London.
The 27-year-old showed his qualities in a woeful Southampton team that won just twice in the Premier League last season, with the goalkeeper making 30 appearances.
Kevin Thelwell should expedite reinforcements at the Glaswegian outfit ahead of the Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos on 22 July at home, and Martin may have a significant role to play in convincing some of the prospective new signings.
