Aaron Ramsdale set for ‘incredible’ Rangers transfer after Premier League snub
Russell Martin may soon reunite with Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale at Rangers this transfer window.
The ex-Saints boss worked with the English shot-stopper last season before eventually being sacked at the St Mary’s Stadium.
Ramsdale has been linked with a move to Ibrox after suffering another Premier League relegation with Southampton.
Martin has a massive decision to make regarding Jack Butland, and the former Manchester United ace could potentially have his answer if the Glaswegian outfit sign a new goalkeeper.

Rangers transfer would be incredible for Ramsdale as Burnley-like transfer to be avoided
It would be incredible for Ramsdale to join the Gers in the coming weeks, Darren Bent says.
The talkSPORT pundit feels the 27-year-old should avoid going to a Premier League team that could get relegated next season and instead move to Ibrox.
When Burnley were brought up as a potential destination, Bent dismissed the Clarets and instead backed the English shot-stopper to move to the Light Blues after playing 183 games in the English top flight over the years.
Competition | Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets |
Premier League | 30 | 66 | 3 |
Speaking on talkSPORT (23 June), the former Tottenham forward said: “I guess it depends where [in the Premier League]. What he won’t want to do is go to a side that could go down again. He doesn’t want that again.
“No, don’t do that [go to Burnley]. Going to Rangers, I mean that’d be incredible for him.”
Ibrox faithful know Ramsdale transfer unrealistic despite Martin appointment
Martin’s connection with Ramsdale has seemingly given rise to the goalkeeper’s links with a move to the Gers this summer.
The ex-Saints boss will undoubtedly want to see the new owners invest heavily in the squad in the ongoing transfer window to strengthen the squad.
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have approved their £20million extra investment at the Glaswegian outfit’s EGM, but it would be surprising to see them invest a big chunk of that in one player.
Even if Rangers sign Ramsdale on loan, they may still have to cover most of his wages, which will likely be expensive.
Lyall Cameron became the Gers’ first arrival this summer, and Max Aarons seems to be on his way to Ibrox as their second signing.
Butland lost his place in the starting lineup after making some glaring errors under Barry Ferguson, but every player will undoubtedly be given a clean slate under Martin.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the 32-year-old start in between the sticks for the Bears next season, as Ramsdale’s transfer in G51 feels unrealistic.
