Rangers sent warning signs as Kwame Poku set for move
Rangers are reportedly close to securing the transfer of Peterborough United attacker Kwame Poku.
Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has gauged the Ghana international’s hamstring blow, which kept him out for nearly three months last season.
Rangers are all set to sign Poku on a free transfer, with his deal at Peterborough running out at the end of June. (Scottish Sun, 16 June)

Poku’s hamstring injury may be something to look at
The Ibrox outfit may carefully assess the 23-year-old’s hamstring injury last season before making a final decision on signing him, according to Dr Brar.
Russell Martin is keen on Poku but it’s important that all parameters are in place before they bring him through the door.
Kwame Poku’s 2024/25 League One statistics | Total |
Appearances | 27 |
Goals | 12 |
Assists | 8 |
Big chances created | 9 |
Touches | 46.3 |
Accurate passes | 20.3 (80%) |
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, exclusively told Ibrox News: “Rangers may take a closer look at his hamstring injury and see how he has recovered.
“This may have been a Grade 4 rupture, so they would want to gauge that closely.
“They will also assess his healing and see if there’s a chance for re-injury.”

Rangers could do with Poku in the side provided his fitness is ideal
Poku would be an excellent signing for Rangers due to his pace, flair, and proven goal-scoring ability in League One, netting 12 goals and eight assists in 2024/25.
His versatility to play across the front line complements Rangers’ attacking style under Martin, offering a direct threat to rival Celtic’s defence.
At 23, he will be a high-potential addition to bolster their Scottish Premiership campaign.
However, Gers must ensure his recent hamstring injuries won’t recur, as past signings like injury-prone attackers Kemar Roofe, Oscar Cortes and Rabbi Matondo led to regret due to inconsistent availability.
Thorough medical assessments and a tailored fitness regime are crucial to secure Poku’s long-term impact and avoid repeating historical mistakes.
