49ers kickstart Rangers revolution as Aarons transfer update emerges

Rangers supporters are expecting an overhaul at Ibrox, but not much has materialised since Russell Martin’s appointment.

Lyall Cameron remains the only signing for Rangers, but his transfer was sealed back in February when he signed a pre-contract agreement.

A host of players have been linked with a move to Ibrox, with Max Aarons expected to join on loan from AFC Bournemouth.

Now, there has been a further update on his move, which could set the 49ers wheels in motion in Glasgow.

Rangers to announce Aarons signing from Bournemouth

The Gers are primed to cement Martin’s appointment with the loan signing of Aarons from the Premier League.

Aarons has been a Bournemouth player for almost two years, but spent the second half of last season on loan with La Liga outfit Valencia.

However, he was not afforded much of an opportunity under former West Brom manager Carlos Corberan, making just five appearances.

It appears his time with the Cherries is also up, for now, as Andoni Iraola is set to let him leave again for pastures new.

Rangers are expected to announce the loan signing of Aarons “any time now”, according to the Daily Mail (22 June).

They state that the Bears are in drastic need af an overhaul, but the signing of the right-back should kickstart the 49ers’ revolution.

While Aarons is just the start, the outlet goes on to say that Rangers will need a lot more to be ready for their Champions League tie with Panathinaikos.

Who could follow Aarons through the Ibrox door?

After Aarons signs, the Glasgow side will hope that other deals gather pace, and there have been several names linked with a move.

Kwame Poku is another player expected to sign for Rangers, as he appears to have chosen a switch to Ibrox.

The winger will be out of contract at the end of June and will leave Peterborough United, with only a small cross-border compensation fee to pay.

Rangers are also keen on Leicester City defender Conor Coady, and contact has already been made between the Ibrox club and the player.

As Gers fans sit and wait anxiously, the signing of Aarons should trigger further movement in the market.
