Rangers news round-up: Hagi in unexpected twist, new Ibrox contract readied

Rangers are working hard behind the scenes in preparation for next season.

After such a poor campaign last time out, everyone in Glasgow will be fully aware of the need for Rangers to make the most of the off-season, with a lot of work to be done.

Recruitment at Ibrox is going to be crucial to the success that they can find next season, as will the decisions made off the pitch.

Max Aarons signing imminent as Rangers details emerge

Max Aarons looks all but set for a move to Rangers, having spent last season on loan at La Liga outfit Valencia.

The Englishman currently contracted to Bournemouth will move to Ibrox on loan for the season, and will become the Light Blues’ second signing of the summer transfer window.

Aarons had plenty of interest in his services, but it seems as though Rangers have won the race, and with Russell Martin due to take his first training session on 23 June, the hope is that he arrives in Glasgow ahead of that date.

His arrival is expected to push James Tavernier, who has been the starting right-back at Ibrox for several seasons now, under many different managers.

Ianis Hagi set to find new club after Ibrox exit

Ianis Hagi certainly had a frustrating season last time out, with Philippe Clement and then Barry Ferguson very rarely giving him the chance to showcase his worth on a regular basis.

As a result, the Romanian is due to leave Rangers at the end of his contract, and a move to Legia Warsaw could be on the cards.

A report from Romanian outlet DigiSport (19 June) claims it would be an “unexpected transfer” given the fact that several other clubs would have almost certainly been willing to take the gamble on him.

Nico Raskin in line for new Rangers deal

The future of Nico Raskin has been up in the air ever since the conclusion of the last campaign, with several sides expressing an interest in the Rangers star.

However, Martin has made it clear that he wants the Belgian to sign a new deal at Ibrox, with just two years remaining on his current one in Glasgow.

Raskin was a standout performer for the Gers last season, and his inclusion for the next campaign will be a necessity.

It is claimed that Raskin is happy at Rangers and would be open to extending his deal.
