Rangers given Conor Coady go ahead as new transfer on cards

Rangers are reportedly keen on bringing Leicester City defender Conor Coady to Ibrox in this transfer window.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the fitness situation of the 32-year-old centre-back ahead of a potential summer move.

Russell Martin is understood to be a fan of Coady and wants the board to sanction a move for him.

Premier League experience to help Conor Coady adapt at Ibrox

Coady’s fitness over the past season suggests he should have no issues clearing his medical, according to Dr Brar.

The Ibrox chiefs have made contact with Leicester as they look to sign the centre-back in the coming weeks.

Cyriel Dessers’ sale could fund Rangers’ move for Coady, but that deal has not yet gone through.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, exclusively told Ibrox News: “While he was not a regular starter, he did not miss games due to injury.

“I do not see any reason why he’d have issues clearing his medical.

“His experience in the Premier League also means he should adapt quickly to life in Scotland.”

Coady makes perfect sense for Rangers

While at 32, Coady may arguably be past his best, he could still be an important signing for Rangers.

The Gers backline has lacked the presence of calm heads and he could be the organiser that they need.

While James Tavernier has been the captain, there have been question marks about his performances.

There is even a chance that he’s not the first choice option going into the new season, should a new right-back be signed.

Coady offers composure in possession and will be one of the best defenders in the league if he moves to Ibrox.

It remains to be seen if Martin can successfully convince the England international to join in the coming weeks.
