Harry Toffolo transfer talks ‘to delight Russell Martin at Rangers’

Russell Martin could potentially have Nottingham Forest left-back Harry Toffolo at Rangers this transfer window.

The Englishman’s contract at the Tricky Trees expires at the end of June, and the Gers have an opportunity to complete a bargain deal.

Toffollo has emerged as a target at Ibrox, and the 29-year-old is reportedly keen to join the Light Blues in the coming weeks.

With Ridvan Yilmaz’s future in Glasgow uncertain, it would make sense for the Bears to hold conversations with the English defender.

Toffolo excited about summer as transfer talks held amid Rangers interest

Toffollo has held several conversations with different clubs as he’s set to become a free agent.

The left-back revealed that he’s set to analyse proposals on his table and is excited about what can happen in the coming weeks.

Toffolo isn’t sure where he’ll end up, but Martin will undoubtedly be delighted to have someone of the 29-year-old’s experience at Ibrox next season.

Speaking on Forest Focus (17 June), the defender said: “My agent has actually left me to it whilst I’ve been on holiday. He wants me to go and enjoy my time away, which he’s done respectfully.

“Now I’m back, I’m going to get my teeth into some bits. There’s been a lot of conversations held with many clubs. So it’s going to be an interesting summer. It’s going to be an exciting summer. Not a clue where I’m going to end up, which is quite fun.”

Martin will need Toffolo at Ibrox after Yilmaz’s exit

Yilmaz’s exit from Ibrox seems imminent after significant interest in him from Turkey during the winter transfer window.

The 24-year-old has shown glimpses of his talent at the Light Blues, but his consistent fitness issues have been frustrating for fans.

Jefte was attracting interest from Chelsea recently, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him opt to join the Premier League outfit if they make another approach.

Rangers will need to reinforce their defence if they lose any of their players, and Toffolo would undoubtedly be a quality signing.

While the Englishman struggled for game time at Forest last season, Martin would be pleased to have someone of the 29-year-old’s reputation at his disposal.

The former Southampton boss has a challenging task ahead of him at the Gers, with expectations among fans being to compete with Celtic next season.

Martin will arguably know that he needs better players to end the Hoops’ dominance in the Scottish Premiership, and Toffolo may be one of the players who can help the 39-year-old manager succeed.
