Cyriel Dessers ‘exit from Rangers confirmed’ after £4m transfer development
Russell Martin could potentially lose Cyriel Dessers at Rangers this summer transfer window.
AEK Athens are interested in the Nigeria international, and it remains to be seen what the Gers decide to do with an offer for him on the table.
Dessers’ importance at Ibrox can’t be overstated, as he scored 29 goals in all competitions for the Light Blues last season, leading to questions about whether to sell him.
With Kevin Thelwell leading the squad overhaul at the Bears as their new sporting director, he seemingly has a no-brainer decision.

Rangers can’t turn down transfer offer for Dessers
Keith Jackson wonders if the Gers can reject a decent offer for Dessers this summer.
The Daily Record journalist feels that in an ideal world, the Light Blues should keep the 30-year-old and use him as a backup option, but an Ibrox exit looks more likely.
When Scott McDermott revealed that around £4million could be on the table for the centre-forward, Jackson suggested it would be too much for the Glaswegian outfit to turn down.

Speaking on Hotline Live (16 June), the journalist said: “[Dessers] misses too many chances in big moments and big matches. He’s capable of some outrageous finishes. In an ideal world for Rangers, you’d probably keep him, and he’s a good option to have. But I’m not sure that’s the situation that Rangers are in just now. Can they afford to turn down decent money for a player who can be so frustratingly hit and miss?
“I think that becomes difficult for Rangers to turn down”
Dessers should be sold at Ibrox this summer transfer window
Dessers’ sale at Ibrox feels like the best option for both parties at the moment as Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises start a new era at the Gers.
Russell Martin should trust Hamza Igamane to be his first-choice striker next season after the Moroccan youngster showed glimpses of his talent under Philippe Clement.
Nico Raskin struggled for game time at the Light Blues after initially signing from Standard Liege, but he’s now become an influential player after being handed regular game time.
Rangers could possibly make a huge profit on the Belgium international in the coming months, and they should now look to continue that model.
It wouldn’t make sense to turn down a significant offer for Dessers this summer, as his value will arguably only go down.
The 30-year-old isn’t getting any younger and may not attract as much interest later on as he does now, given his decent form for club and country.
Igamane should be the go-to number nine at the Gers, with a couple of strikers being bought this summer to improve depth up front.
