Rangers ‘set to seal’ new transfer amid Max Aarons development

Rangers are reportedly edging closer to securing the services of Bournemouth right-back Max Aarons this summer.

Russell Martin wants the Ibrox outfit to sign new defenders and Aarons could be the first one through the door.

The 25-year-old spent the second half of last season out on loan at Valencia and could once again be on the move.

Rangers strike verbal agreement to sign Max Aarons on loan

According to reliable Spanish journalist Matthew Moretto (16 June), Rangers have reached a verbal agreement to secure the right-back’s services on loan.

The deal is nearly finalised and he’s set to become Gers’ first signing of the summer transfer window.

Neraysho Kasanwirjo is unlikely to return to Ibrox, making it imperative to bring in a new right-back.

Aarons’ career stats.

Aarons has a decent amount of experience in English football and is still only 25, so his best years are ahead of him.

It remains to be seen if an option or an obligation to buy exists as the Ibrox outfit need a long-term right-back signing.

Aarons is certainly an upgrade on James Tavernier

Rangers’ loan signing of Aarons is a quality piece of business due to his proven pedigree, versatility, and fit within Martin’s system.

At 25, Aaron brings 213 Norwich City appearances, where he thrived under Daniel Farke, contributing six goals and 14 assists, showcasing his attacking flair and defensive solidity as a right-back.

His experience in the Premier League with Bournemouth and a loan stint at Valencia adds top-level know-how, vital for Gers’ ambitions in the Scottish Premiership and European competitions.

He undoubtedly is an upgrade on James Tavernier, which is a huge boost for the Gers.

Aarons’ familiarity with high pressing, possession-based systems aligns perfectly with Martin’s tactics at Ibrox, offering an upgrade on their current options with the new owners backing their manager in the transfer window.

With no permanent transfer fee, the loan minimises financial risk while addressing Rangers’ defensive depth needs, especially with potential departures.

The Englishman’s hunger to rediscover his Norwich form makes this a low-risk, high-reward move for a club aiming to reignite its title challenge.
