Rangers can ‘repeat 49ers transfer trick at Leeds United’ to great success at Ibrox
Rangers may have been forced to endure a tough few seasons at Ibrox, but things are starting to look up for the Glasgow side.
A disastrous season left the Gers falling way behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, and the squad, which ended the season under Barry Ferguson, had to settle for second with plenty of time to go.
Although it felt like a long time coming, Andrew Cavenagh’s takeover of the Gers alongside the 49ers gives supporters a good reason to look ahead with optimism.
With Russell Martin in place as manager, the task is now to bring in the right players to create enough change to push for the title next season.

49ers can repeat Leeds United trick with Rangers
One of the reasons supporters could be so optimistic about the takeover at Ibrox is because of what the 49ers have already achieved with Leeds United.
Those inside Ibrox certainly want to see success return, but they will be well aware that for that to really happen, they need people at the club who understand why it’s so important to achieve that.
Philippe Clement’s tenure as manager felt as though he didn’t understand why the expectations were so high at Ibrox and ultimately, it led to his downfall.
The 49ers have certainly shown they understand what success means, though.
Leeds were relegated back to the Championship just as the 49ers gained full control of the West Yorkshire outfit and it has since taken two seasons to return to the top flight.
The investors have certainly bought into the history of the club, and that has been shown as The Athletic claims that to tempt signings, they show a video from a night at Elland Road when the Whites scored three times in the final 10 minutes of the game to come from behind and win.
Writing in the Daily Record (16 June), Gavin Berry has suggested that the Light Blues would probably opt for their Europa League semi-final win over Leipzig to repeat the trick at Ibrox.

Cavenagh and 49ers to make most of Rangers potential
Rangers need to rebuild their reputation and show that they are expected to be battling for the Scottish Premiership title and in Europe every single season.
| Team | Position | Goal Difference | Points |
| Celtic | 1 | 86 | 92 |
| Rangers | 2 | 39 | 75 |
It may not be a quick fix, but Martin and the new investors have to get the groundwork right now to push even further and build that back up.
Rangers are an historic club that have had to endure some tough times of late, not too dissimilar to Leeds.
Therefore, the 49ers must use what they have already done well in West Yorkshire as the perfect blueprint to fast-track the Bears’ success.
The future could well be exciting in Glasgow.
