Nicolas Raskin ‘next to quit Rangers’ as emotional farewell sent

Nicolas Raskin has been at the centre of plenty of transfer speculation in recent weeks.

The 24-year-old was excellent for Rangers throughout the season, and his performances have now caught the attention of the likes of Aston Villa and Fiorentina.

Raskin has also had a continued influence at international level, having featured heavily for Belgium across their two recent breaks.

He has made fantastic progress in Govan since his move from Standard Liege two-and-a-half years ago, but now there are growing fears that Raskin’s time at Ibrox may be about to come to a close.

Raskin could be the next man to leave Rangers

The Gers appear set to face yet another summer of upheaval as they attempt to close the gap to their city rivals next term.

Kevin Thelwell and Co. have reportedly been supplied with an initial £20million transfer budget by the Rangers board, as they look to make the necessary additions to bring the squad up to scratch for new boss Russell Martin.

The recent takeover is also expected to bring plenty of change on all levels at Ibrox, and that has already started to be seen with Issame Charai having now departed.

Raskin reacted to the departure with an emotional message on his Instagram story (13 June), saying: “Thanks for everything Issam. I’ll miss you.”

He also posted another story in which he referred to Charai as “The brain.”

With teams across Europe queuing up for his signature, Raskin could be the next man to quit Ibrox, amid fears that he could soon be posting his goodbye message.

Rangers are understood to be prepared to sell their star man if a bid is received that matches their £25m valuation of the Belgian.

Rangers should take the money for Raskin

Raskin would be as important to Rangers as ever as they transition into the Martin era this summer, however, the club could well be tempted to move him on, if the right money is offered.

The midfielder has proved to be a brilliant piece of business by the Gers, but every player has a price at which it becomes more logical for the club to take the money.

In Raskin’s case, if Rangers receive an offer that aligns with their £25m valuation, then they shouldn’t think twice about sanctioning his sale.

A £25m sale would likely at least double the current transfer budget that the Ibrox outfit are working with, and that could prove to be invaluable as the summer progresses.

There is certainly an argument that Martin will want to keep the likes of Raskin around in order to build the team around him and establish a level of continuity. However, the prospect of a blank canvas and plenty of money to work with will also be a hugely attractive proposition.

With the likes of Leon Balogun, Tom Lawrence and Ianis Hagi gone, Raskin could be next.
