Rangers ready to sell Nicolas Raskin for £25m as Fiorentina news emerges

Nicolas Raskin has turned into an excellent signing during his two-and-a-half years at Rangers.

The Belgian’s form hit another level at Ibrox this season, notching five goals and 11 assists in all competitions as he became one of the Bears’ brightest stars.

The midfielder’s impressive campaign saw him win the club’s Player of the Year award, and has also propelled him into the frame for his national team in recent months. He recently made a big impact from the bench in Belgium’s win over Wales (9 June).

Raskin is tipped to remain a central figure under the reign of Russell Martin, but he could also represent a good way of Rangers generating funds that could be reinvested elsewhere in the squad.

Rangers want £25m for Raskin amid Fiorentina interest

Raskin has consistently turned in decisive performances this season for Rangers, both domestically and in European competitions.

As a result, it comes as no surprise that the 24-year-old is attracting interest from elsewhere ont he continent.

The former Standard Liege man has caught the eye of Fiorentina, who are thought to be mulling over the possibility of signing the Rangers star, according to the print edition of Corriere dello Sport (13 June, pg. 16).

Rangers are in a strong position following Raskin’s impressive campaign, as the Belgian still has two years remaining on his current contract. With that in mind, the Ibrox outfit are understood to have set a valuation of £25million for one of their key men.

That fee is reportedly a little outside of Fiorentina’s desired budget at the minute, but La Viola are expected to consider a deal regardless.

The Italian giants also look set to face competition from the likes of Aston Villa and Marseille for Raskin’s signature.

Rangers face a crucial decision on Raskin

Rangers haven’t got as many transfer decisions right as they would have liked in recent years, which has resulted in them wasting ample resources on players who haven’t performed in Govan.

Raskin was one signing who has turned out to be something of a masterstroke from the club, but they now face a crucial decision over where his future may lie.

They could opt to keep hold of the star, which would provide new boss Martin with a player he can rely on to create and drive standards within his squad.

However, if Fiorentina were to table an offer that suits Rangers’ demands, then it may be hard for the club to turn down.

Martin is a manager who typically likes to work with players who he trusts can fit in with his style of football, and that could result in plenty of overhaul at Ibrox this summer.

A big-money sale of Raskin could be used to fuel the majority of that potential turnover.
