‘Rangers fans will double-take’ as Van Bronckhorst set to take on major new job
Giovanni Van Bronckhorst was heralded as the man to bring glory back to Rangers when he was appointed manager in November 2021.
However, the Gers ultimately slipped further behind Celtic in the league, and Van Bronckhorst was given his marching orders after almost exactly one year in charge.
Van Bronckhorst guided Gers to the Europa League final and lifted the Scottish Cup in his first season, but the team’s league form was dismal in the following campaign.
So, supporters may do a double-take when they see what job Van Bronckhorst has been linked with.

Van Bronckhorst close to joining Liverpool coaching staff
Van Bronckhorst was linked with a return to Rangers earlier this year, while the club were looking for a successor to Philippe Clement.
However, it now appears as if he will join Liverpool to become Arne Slot’s coaching staff.
Liverpool need a new assistant coach after John Heitinga left Anfield to become head coach at Ajax.
A report from The Times (12 June) suggests that Van Bronckhorst is close to replacing his compatriot.

Van Bronckhorst is a winner despite torrid spell at Rangers
Most Rangers fans agreed it was time for Van Bronckhorst to go when he was dismissed in 2022, one year and three days after he was appointed.
His side were nine points behind in the SPL, and it was only November. Rangers were the whipping boys of their Champions League group, and all summer signings were proving themselves to be flops.
The Dutchman wasn’t solely to blame for Rangers’ failures, but it was time for him to go.

Still, it can’t be denied that Van Bronckhorst has a habit of winning things. He brought silverware to Ibrox and lifted trophies with Feyenoord and Besiktas as a first-team coach as well. He has won things at most of the clubs he has managed.
Liverpool clearly believe that the former Rangers manager has some knowledge to bring to their dressing room. It will be interesting to see how he settles in at Anfield if he is offered the job.
