Rangers player exit update after new £20m developments – Exclusive

Rangers supporters may have mixed feelings around the appointment of Russell Martin, but there is reason for optimism around Ibrox.

Last season, the Gers fell significantly short of their ambitions, finishing the campaign 17 points adrift of Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

However, after a consortium including Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers Enterprises took majority control, Rangers will receive a fresh investment of £20million.

Of course, the Bears must spend that money wisely, but it can go far in the Scottish transfer market.

Rangers selling position explained amid £20million investment

While £20million may not sound like a lot in football terms, it will go a long way to helping Rangers sign quality players.

Of course, that figure will only go so far, meaning there has been talk of player departures at Ibrox.

Football finance expert Dan Plumley has addressed whether the Glasgow outfit will have to sell, given their financial position.

“It does, yes,” he exclusively told Ibrox News when asked if the £20million investment would take the pressure off selling players.

“Ultimately, if you’ve got that new investment coming in, and some of that investment will, of course, be funding transfer market activity.

“There’ll be other plans for some of that money in terms of infrastructure and other commercial operations of the club, and pushing it forward on all fronts.

“If you’re looking at transfer market activity, it does give you a bit more of a need not to sell, and it does factor into that.

“You, you still might see outgoings as well. It doesn’t mean that’s not going to happen, but it does take the pressure off a little bit.

“Particularly with those players that you’re really wanting to keep, your biggest assets that might have had to go.

“As we know in football, if a big offer comes in and it’s a decent offer, all things considered, it’s still plausible that you see some outgoings, but it does take the pressure off for sure.”

Which players could Martin lose at Ibrox this summer?

If the Gers are to raise funds from transfers this summer, then there are a few players who are in demand.

Belgian international Nicolas Raskin has been linked with FC Porto and has gathered attention for his fine form, with Premier League clubs queuing up too.

Elsewhere, Mohamed Diomande has caught the gaze of Everton, who are planning on a significant rebuild themselves this summer.

While Rangers are focused on signings, they will also have key decisions to make on their prized assets.
