‘Rangers exits imminent’ after new Kevin Thelwell comments
Rangers have had a somewhat slow start to the summer transfer window, waiting for everything else to be put in place at Ibrox.
With Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers having completed their takeover now and appointed Russell Martin as manager, things are expected to ramp up.
Kevin Thelwell will have a big part to play in the window, after making the move to Rangers from Everton upon the expiry of his contract at Goodison Park.
It seems he may well be ready to start the big job ahead.

Thelwell reveals Rangers plan
After a disastrous season for Rangers, there is plenty of work that needs to be done this summer.
The new investors do have to keep PSR regulations in mind, but Martin will be eager to put his stamp on the side this summer.
With that in mind, we could well see an overhaul at Ibrox as the Light Blues move into their new era.
While baby steps have to be taken, everyone at the Gers will be eager to push further up the Scottish Premiership table next term to compete with Celtic.
Team | Position | Goal Difference | Points |
Celtic | 1 | 86 | 92 |
Rangers | 2 | 39 | 75 |
Thelwell has reassured supporters that work is already well underway in Glasgow, and there won’t be long to wait for some signs of movement.
In quotes reported by the Daily Record (11 June), Thelwell was asked if there could be as many as 12 players leaving and coming into Rangers and he replied: “I probably wouldn’t want to put a number on it at the moment.
“Clearly, there’s been work being done behind the scenes already.
“We’ve been evaluating and reviewing the current group that we’ve got.
“There are some very good players here at Rangers. But with every football club, there’s room for improvement, isn’t there?
“We want to go into the transfer market and find opportunities that help the team be better and stronger.
“Now that Russell is here as head coach, we’ve got a chance to sit down very quickly and talk more about what the group looks like and what we need to do going forward.
“We have to make some hard, fast decisions and then hopefully start to quickly build a team that helps us to win.”

Rangers cull to be imminent
Thelwell specifically mentioned that he wants decisions to be made “fast”, suggesting there could be some confirmed incomings and outgoings very soon indeed.
Pre-season will soon be underway and the Gers can’t wait too long before getting down to business properly, otherwise they will have limited time.
Based on Thelwell’s comments, it seems as though those at Ibrox are ready to get to work and exits could well be imminent.
The likes of Cyriel Dessers and Ridvan Yilmaz are being linked with moves away this summer and the Gers have big calls to make.
Meanwhile, Jack Butland’s future remains up in the air and Martin will have to make some tough decisions about the future of the club.
