Rangers want to seal Drameh transfer as offer now submitted

Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers have big ambitions for their ownership at Rangers and are keen to get underway with their work.

With Russell Martin in place in the Ibrox hot seat, the new investors are ready to give the boss the necessary financial backing to push Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Supporters have gotten used to being apathetic when it comes to transfer business, while the American investors are expected to significantly increase the budget at Rangers.

The extent of just how far they are willing to invest may soon be put to the test.

Rangers interested in Cody Drameh transfer

There is plenty of work that needs to be done at Ibrox this summer.

Martin will be keen to put his stamp on the squad, but after a disappointing season, plenty of players showed their levels were not up to the expected quality.

One area where Rangers could do with strength is at right-back.

There are plenty of questions being asked about what the future holds for James Tavernier, which could leave injury-stricken Dujon Sterling as the only option at right-back.

It has been reported by Hull Live (10 June) that the solution could come in the shape of Cody Drameh.

The 23-year-old made 28 appearances for Hull City in the Championship this season and is attracting plenty of interest this summer.

The report states that Rangers are one of nine clubs keen on gaining his services this summer, alongside the likes of Derby County, who have already submitted an offer for the defender.

Hull are not actively looking to sell their right-back but could be ready to change their mind if they were approached with a seven-figure offer.

None of the interested parties have registered an offer close to the valuation yet.

Rangers to look elsewhere

Rangers may be ready to approach the summer transfer market with an increased level of financial flexibility, but a seven-figure offer for the right-back is far too much.

With PSR to think about, Cavenagh and the 49ers have to build sustainable growth at Ibrox and spread investment out across the squad.

Due to managerial changes at Hull, Drameh hasn’t had the easiest of times in Yorkshire so far, and Sergej Jakirovic is yet to get a good look at his new squad.

Therefore, Rangers can keep an eye on how this one plays out in case a potential move becomes viable, relying on Tavernier for possibly one more season.

However, at the current valuation, Martin should focus his attention elsewhere.
