Dessers has a decent return in 2024/25.

Athens are prepared to send Rangers a bid for Dessers and that’s expected to start at £5million if they are to meet Gers’ valuation.

Should that be accepted, the Ibrox outfit would still be making a profit on the player they signed in 2023.

Under the old regime, Rangers paid Cremonese £4.5million to sign Dessers.

Rangers have a difficult decision to make on Dessers

Cashing in on Dessers could be a strategic move for Rangers, given his inconsistent performances and age-related decline in market value.

At 30, Dessers, it was unlikely that he would fetch a profit, but Athens’ willingness can see them capitalise.

Selling now would free up funds and wages, especially as he’s been overtaken by Hamza Igamane as the first-choice striker.

His performances may also attract interest from clubs like Cagliari, but his high miss rate and lack of versatility make him expendable.

Retaining Igamane is crucial for long-term success and potential future profit.

However, Rangers must sign a new first-choice striker to complement Igamane’s dynamic style, ensuring depth and consistency to compete domestically and in Europe, while capitalising on Dessers’ sale to bolster the squad, particularly in defence.
