49ers to cancel another Rangers transfer after Oumar Camara update

Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers Enterprises have completed their takeover at Rangers and got straight to work.

With Russell Martin having been appointed as manager, supporters will be expecting to see several new faces coming to Ibrox during the summer transfer window.

However, the new American investors are ready to be brutal, with Oumar Camara no longer set to make a pre-agreed move to Rangers.

Rangers to repeat Camara decision

Ahead of the takeover being completed at Ibrox, it had been reported that a deal was in place for Rangers to sign Camara this summer.

The striker rejected the offer to stay at Paris Saint-Germain in favour of a move to the Scottish Premiership instead.

However, since taking charge in Glasgow, the 49ers and Cavenagh have gone down a different route.

As a result, the deal has now been cancelled and Camara will be looking for a new move this summer.

Speaking on the Rangers Review podcast (10 June), Chris Jack admitted it may not be the last u-turn we see at Ibrox this summer.

It had previously been reported that the Light Blues were also keen on bringing Cameron Burgess to the Scottish Premiership from Ipswich, but that could also be at risk.

Jack admitted: “I think it’s only natural, every technical director or sporting director or head of recruitment or chief scout, they’ll all have their own opinions on players, they’ll always have their own routes they want to go down.

“This [Camara deal] is not the only one. Obviously, Josh had a story a few weeks ago regarding Burgess at Ipswich. There’s every chance that that one doesn’t happen now either because of that change.”

49ers must work with Martin

As Jack says, when new investors come into a club, there are also going to be changes of direction and there could be other deals called off, similar to Camara’s.

However, the 49ers and Cavenagh must ensure that they are working with Martin and aligning everyone’s aims when it comes to their transfer business to push them forward next season.

Rangers want to push further next season.

Burgess is a well-experienced player and, having suffered Premier League relegation this season, he may be keen to make a move away from Ipswich.

Whether or not it goes through, it has to be ensured that decisions are being made as a collective at Ibrox to provide solid foundations for progress.
