Ross McCausland transfer twist emerges as Martin listens to new Rangers offer

Russell Martin is considering transfer offers at Rangers, but Ross McCausland could impact those plans at Ibrox.

MLS sides want the Northern Ireland international this summer, with FC Basel and OH Leuven also interested in him.

Martin has significant plans at Ibrox, with the former Southampton boss expecting several additions to his team in the ongoing transfer window.

The Light Blues will arguably be looking to trim their squad as they add more bodies for the new head coach, but that may prove difficult.

Rangers stay wanted by McCausland as Cardiff City join race

The news outlet reports (8 June) that Cardiff City have joined the race for the 22-year-old winger, but he’s got no intention of leaving Ibrox.

It’s been claimed that the Northern Irishman wants to be a part of Martin’s plans at the Light Blues next season, but the 39-year-old head coach is open to listening to offers for him.

The ex-Saints boss and Kevin Thelwell are assessing the squad as they look at potential targets to strengthen the Glaswegian outfit.

Martin must push for quality transfer, McCausland sale inevitable

Martin is already eyeing a reunion from Southampton at the Gers, with defensive midfielder Flynn Downes a transfer target.

Leicester City centre-back Conor Coady is also on the Light Blues’ radar, and it remains to be seen whether a deal can be struck with the Foxes.

It isn’t surprising to see the Scottish manager targeting players who were playing in the Premier League this season, as the Bears require quality and experience.

Rangers will be without Leon Balogun, Ianis Hagi and Vaclav Cerny next season, and they’ll evidently need to be replaced.

The Gers’ trio were influential in the current campaign, and they’ll surely be missed by the Ibrox faithful.

Martin must push Thelwell to make several quality signings this summer, with Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises needing to put their hands in their pockets.

McCausland has shown glimpses of his potential at Ibrox, but it seems like the 22-year-old would benefit from a move away from the Glaswegian outfit.

The Northern Ireland international should aim to get regular minutes next season, which may not be possible at the Light Blues.
