Rangers star Nicolas Raskin ‘primed for Premier League transfer’
Rangers look set for yet another rebuild this summer as they attempt to wrestle back control of the Scottish Premiership from their city rivals next term.
There should be plenty of room for optimism however, with the recent takeover by the 49ers set to mark the start of a new dawn for the Govan outfit.
The new regime’s first act since taking the reins has been to appoint Russell Martin as the club’s new manager, with the confirmation of that decision coming on Thursday (5 June).
Rangers had been without a permanent boss since they relieved Philippe Clement of his duties back in February, but now Martin can begin working on plans to progress the team to the next stage and mould the side in his image.

Philippe Clement feels Raskin is ready for a Premier League move
The 49ers will be keen for the club to make quick and steady progress following their takeover, and getting Martin through the door has been the first step in the right direction.
However, with a new manager now at the helm and fresh ideas behind the scenes, that will surely mean a fairly significant turnover in players ahead of the start of next season.
While bringing in new players to strengthen the squad will be one of the main priorities, Rangers must also do their best to ensure they retain some of the key components of their current side.
The likes of Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande were hugely important figures for the Bears this season, and both are likely to draw interest from elsewhere.
In Raskin’s case, the Belgian’s former boss, Clement, feels the midfielder is ready for a move to the Premier League.
Speaking to Belgian news outlet HLN (4 June), Clement referred to the midfielder as “energetic” and “a born winner.”
The former Rangers and Monaco boss then added that Raskin would “fit perfectly in the Premier League.”

Raskin has been excellent this season
Raskin’s performances this season may make it difficult for Rangers to keep hold of their star midfielder in the long term.
The 24-year-old has been hugely impressive since his move from Standard Liege back in January 2023, but he has taken his game to another level at Ibrox this term.
Season | Apps | Goals | Assists |
2024/25 | 48 | 5 | 11 |
2023/24 | 31 | 1 | 1 |
2022/23 | 16 | – | 2 |
He has notched five goals and 11 assists in all competitions, and that form has earned him his first caps for the senior Belgian national team. With Raskin’s contract only having two years left to run, Rangers may be better suited looking to cash in on the star, rather than risk the potential of losing him for free later down the line.
On the other hand, Martin will be looking to build his team around some of the most important players that are already at the club, and with Vaclav Cerny seeming unlikely to return with his loan spell having now concluded, Raskin could become even more important to Rangers than he has been previously.
