Rangers ready ‘multi-year plan’ under Martin after £20m announcement – Exclusive
Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers Enterprises already appear to be closing in on Russell Martin to become their first Rangers manager.
His impending appointment will end a lengthy managerial search, which was eventually narrowed down to Davide Ancelotti and Martin.
With a new boss soon to be in place, the Ibrox hierarchy can press on with acquiring players to bolster their Scottish Premiership chances next season.
The Glasgow outfit are now in a healthier financial situation amid a £20million investment pledge for the Rangers squad.

Rangers will go far with £20million amid Martin decision
The Gers’ hierarchy faced a crucial decision in choosing between Martin and Ancelotti, as it could have significantly altered their spending plans.
With a £20million injection into the playing squad and areas around it, that will only go so far and therefore must be spent strategically.
Football finance expert Dan Plumley has shared that the immediate investment and impending appointment of Martin could be the start of a multi-year project in Govan.
“It is a very strong indication of the desire to push this club forward,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“That money will go a fair way at Rangers, and of course, it’s about closing that immediate gap to Celtic based on this season alone.
“As we know in football, if a big offer comes in for a player, and it’s a decent offer, all things considered, it’s still plausible that you will see some outgoings.
“If you are selling players, then that money can then be ring-fenced to go straight back into to buying players.
“If it is to be Russell Martin, you’re looking at the investment number that we’ve seen has been promised, and you’re looking at giving somebody there a project to take forward in the next two or three years.“

Martin must be given chance at Ibrox
While many will look at Martin’s CV and see MK Dons, Swansea City, and Southampton, they must look beyond that.
Yes, the 39-year-old endured a trying time with the Saints, but he did superbly to get them promoted to the Premier League.
The word is that the former Scotland international impressed during interview, enough so that they are likely choosing him over Ancelotti.
If the Rangers hierarchy have faith, then Ibrox must get behind Martin and give him all the support he can get, with a huge year ahead.
