Jim White shares what he has heard about 49ers already at Rangers

Rangers’ new era is finally ready to fall into place.

The 49ers Enterprises group completed their takeover on Friday, and work has already begun ahead of a huge summer in Govan.

The managerial vacancy is the major task at hand, and the new owners are believed to be in advanced talks with Russell Martin.

That is just the start, there is still plenty to be done to bridge the gap to arch-rivals Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premiership.

49ers urged to run Rangers the right way

The excitement at Ibrox is off the scale after years of misery under the former owners, with the hope that the American investors can turn their fortunes around.

Jim White has revealed what he has heard about the 49ers at Ibrox already, but Simon Jordan was sceptical.

Speaking on talkSPORT, White said: “The 49ers, from what we hear, are people that want results ASAP.”

Jordan responded: “They are going to need to spend more than £20million. With due respect to them, they are the owners of Leeds United, they are the owners of major sporting franchises, and they know what they are doing.

“But they have got a tiger by the tail with Rangers, and let’s make sure they run it the way that it should be run.”

Rangers need a huge overhaul under the 49ers

The Gers need a major overhaul under Paraag Marathe and Co.

Once they have the new manager in place, whether that is Martin or Davide Ancelotti or somebody else, the squad will be the main focus.

Rangers were miles behind the champions.

Philippe Clement and Barry Ferguson were unable to get the best out of the players at their disposal and many may be moved on this summer.

The likes of Nico Raskin and Mohamed Diomande are set to attract significant interest from south of the border and the Light Blues may decide to sell them to boost the transfer coffers.

If they are to have any chance of catching Brendan Rodgers’ side next season, a lot of business must be done to improve the squad, otherwise, they could fall even further behind before they move forward.

Getting the new manager in place is the priority right now, but that needs to be resolved soon, so that the crucial rebuild of the underperforming team can be performed as soon as possible.

Jordan may be right, the reported £20m that they will provide this summer, may not be enough, given the lack of consistent quality that they have right now.
