Ferguson shares behind-the-scenes Ibrox reveal that’ll get Rangers fans excited

Rangers’ search for a new manager has entered its third week after confirmation last month that Barry Ferguson will not be staying on.

It has been over three months, meanwhile, since Philippe Clement was sacked by Rangers after a dismal run of domestic form.

Russell Martin is now the strong favourite to take charge at Rangers, with that appointment – while it may split supporters – not coming a minute too soon.

The delay in hiring a new manager has been frustrating, not least because it has meant no new signings can be made.

However, Rangers-mad pundit Derek Ferguson – the brother of Barry – believes there could be new recruitments imminently.

Should Martin be appointed this week, as is now looking likely, he will not have too much time – relatively speaking – to shape his squad ahead of crucial Champions League qualifiers next month.

While many were eager to simply get to the end of last season, the close-season does not last long as excitement will soon start building towards 2025-26.

And Ferguson is of the belief that there will already be wheels in motion behind the scenes to ensure new signings are also through the door once the new manager is confirmed, in what is an exciting development.

“I was thinking not long ago that I’m happy to be patient with the new manager search, but now I’m desperate, whoever it is, that they get their feet in the door,” Ferguson exclusively told Ibrox News.

Pre-season is already not far away. But I’ve heard there’s been a lot of hard work already behind the scenes in terms of targets. It’d be nice to see the manager appointed now so everything can click.”

Rangers need to act fast to sign summer transfer targets

Even if Rangers had kept hold of each of their best players from last season, new recruits would still have been required pretty much all over the park.

With the influential Vaclav Cerny gone and now unlikely to return to Ibrox, it means even more is now required from the Gers to ensure Celtic do not run away with the title again next season.

Already a number of names have been linked, but you have to wonder exactly who the Light Blues have been targeting without knowing who will be at the helm.

Whoever it is that is appointed, you have to hope that these new recruits will soon arrive and will take little time to settle into their new surroundings.
