Rangers told to ‘sell Nedim Bajrami’ immediately ahead of new manager
Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers are ready to get to work right away, once their first permanent Rangers manager is appointed.
After weeks of deliberation, Russell Martin looks to be on his way to Ibrox, and there is plenty to be done before the start of the season.
While supporters inside Ibrox look forward to seeing which new faces could be moving to Glasgow, the new owners will also be keen to offload the deadwood.
Kris Boyd reckons Nedim Bajrami comes under that category.

Boyd highlights Bajrami disappointment
Since making the move to Ibrox last summer, Bajrami has made 28 Scottish Premiership appearances this season.
However, over half of his appearances came from the bench as he has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular.
A lack of contribution in the final third has also led to the disappointment of many at Ibrox, especially after the Gers stumped up a significant fee to gain his services last summer.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |
28 | 2 | 1 |
Although his form was somewhat improved in the Europa League, few in Glasgow are convinced that he has done enough to be a core part of the squad going forward.
This summer, though, he has been linked with a move away from Rangers, and Boyd has urged the Govan club to cash in.
Speaking on the Go Ballistic Podcast (2 June), he said: “I just look at Bajrami and for what Rangers paid for him, I would have expected more.
“Two goals and one assist in the Premiership this year. It’s not enough for someone who cost £3.5million.
“And I get they’ll be people out there saying, but he didn’t start every game. There’s a reason why he didn’t start every game. You get an opportunity every single day in training to change the manager’s opinion, to change the thoughts and force your way into that team.”
Rangers have to part ways with Bajrami
Although Rangers paid a fee last summer, they should be prepared to cut their losses and offload him this summer.
The 26-year-old has not been convincing at Ibrox, with uninspiring performances on the pitch, and Martin will surely be eager to go ahead only with those who have proved themselves.
A new era is set to get underway in Glasgow, and the 49ers will be prepared to show their new manager the support necessary to get back to where Rangers should be.
In Bajrami’s case, it is unlikely he will have any part to play in that.
Given there is already interest in the Rangers man from elsewhere, it’s a decision that is being offered up to the Light Blues without much hassle and one that should be taken.
Selling him would generate funds and also free up space in the squad for those who are able to make the difference needed on the pitch.
