Rangers in advanced talks to hire manager Pep Guardiola wants to learn from
Rangers are closing in on hiring a new manager.
It’s been 100 days since Philippe Clement was shown the exit door at Ibrox.
Since then, Rangers have won just six games across all competitions, with Barry Ferguson becoming one of the statistically worst managers the Light Blues have ever had.
However, with new sporting director Kevin Thelwell now in office in Govan under the ownership of Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, there’s been a lift-off in the bid to find Clement’s permanent replacement.

Rangers close in on ex-Southampton manager Russell Martin
Thelwell is now making ground in a bid to hire Russell Martin as the first Rangers manager of a new era at Ibrox.
Sky Sports reported via their live Transfer Centre on 3 June (7:45pm) that the Gers are “in advanced talks” to appoint the former Southampton manager, who has been out of work since December.
Southampton sacked Martin, 39, seven months ago after he managed to oversee just one win in 16 Premier League matches, leaving the South Coast club rooted to the bottom of the table.
The former defender, who had a brief loan stint as a Rangers player in 2018, has also managed MK Dons and Swansea City in his budding managerial career.
He now looks likely to return to Ibrox to help Cavenagh, Paraag Marathe, Patrick Stewart and Thelwell start a new chapter in the history of Rangers Football Club.

Pep Guardiola was wowed by what Martin did
Although it was an abysmal season for Southampton, Martin did manage to leave a rather positive mark on Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
City struggled to a 1-0 win over the Saints in October, leading to Guardiola hailing Martin for the way he set up his team, admitting that he had a thing or two to learn from the ex-Scotland manager after the game.
As quoted by BBC Sport, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager said: “It’s a good game to learn as a manager. I am going to learn a lot with Russell because they did really well.”
While Martin is reportedly in advanced talks to be the new Rangers manager, news elsewhere suggests that Davide Ancelotti is still in the running to take charge at Ibrox.
