49ers ready to seal Jamie Vardy transfer as Rangers takeover finally complete

Rangers can finally get to work on their transfer business after the 49ers Enterprises completed their takeover of the Glasgow club.

It’s expected to be an exciting summer at Ibrox under the watch of the new American investors, who are set to provide increased levels of investment immediately.

The ambitions are going to be high, with Jamie Vardy already wanted through the door.

Rangers eyeing Vardy transfer

Before Rangers get carried away with recruitment on the pitch, a new manager has to be appointed as a matter of urgency.

There have been intense links to several names over the past few weeks, but it is Davide Ancelotti and Russell Martin who are said to be closest to the hot seat.

Once an appointment is made, it is expected to be all systems go, and while there will have to be slow growth, the new owners are ready to make a statement.

The Daily Mail has reported in its print edition (2 June, page 69) that Rangers are one of the clubs that are showing an interest in Vardy this summer.

The striker is available as a free agent, having agreed to leave Leicester City after their relegation to the Championship at the end of the campaign.

Although 38-years-old, Vardy is eager to continue to show what he can do and with new owners in place, the Gers will be hoping they can tempt him to make the move up north.

Vardy would be a statement at Rangers

With reported interest from several other sides, including Premier League teams, Rangers will have to sell themselves to secure this transfer.

However, it could be a massive statement of intent if the new owners are able to convince the striker of their vision for progression at Ibrox and seal his services.

Due to PSR regulations, the Light Blues are going to have to take a measured approach to their summer business, so securing a player of this level on a free transfer would be a shrewd move.

Next season, those at Ibrox want to show rivals Celtic that they are here to compete, and someone with such experience would surely be reflective of that.

Having a strong mixture of youth and experienced players could certainly be what Rangers need to see them move forward.
