Robin Propper transfer discussed internally in Rangers exit development

Robin Propper had a shaky first season at Rangers and could already be set to depart.

The Dutchman completed a move to Ibrox in the summer but failed to truly have a positive impact in the Scottish Premiership.

Despite this, the 31-year-old still made a sizable number of appearances despite a chequered injury record in G51.

This could ultimately result in Propper making a move away from Govan as the summer transfer window looks set to open in the coming weeks.

Propper transfer talks emerge at Rangers

Despite coming in as the captain of a side in the UEFA Conference League, the centre-back didn’t manage to make his mark for the Gers.

This often saw the likes of Leon Balogun and John Souttar selected ahead of the summer signing by both Barry Ferguson and Philippe Clement.

As a result, it would be little surprise if the Light Blues opted to move Propper on if the right offer were to come in throughout the summer.

This could be in the pipeline at Ibrox as Dutch outlet Soccer News reported on 1 June that FC Twente are seriously interested in bringing the 31-year-old back after just one year away.

Internal talks are considering a return for the Dutchman and are waiting to see if the defender would be willing to return to the Eredivisie this summer.

Propper could complete FC Twente return

There is a number of centre-back options already available in G51, but with Balogun leaving at the end of his contract, options are certainly needed for the new season.

Ben Davies is set to return from Birmingham City, but it is unclear whether he has a future in the Scottish Premiership or not.

As a result, the Gers may be reluctant to part ways with Propper so soon, especially if they can’t find a replacement before the season kicks off.

With that being said, it will be interesting to see where the interest of Twente goes in the coming days and weeks, and what that means for the Govan club in the transfer window.
