Rangers manager announcement imminent after Kris Boyd heard about favourite
The 49ers’ takeover at Rangers now means that the Gers are one step closer to appointing a manager.
The US consortium completed the deal on Friday as the Glaswegian club immediately became the richest team in Scotland.
It is believed that £20 million will be available to make improvements to Rangers’ squad this summer.
However, Rangers need to appoint a manager before completing major transfer business.

Boyd expects Rangers manager appointment ‘within days’ as Davide Ancelotti becomes favourite
Rumours surrounding who will be the next Rangers manager have continued since the takeover.
Steven Gerrard is now out of the race at the Gers, and he will no longer be an option for the 49ers.
As it stands, both Davide Ancelotti and Chris Martin are the frontrunners for the Rangers job.
Yet, despite rumours circulating for months, an appointment still hasn’t been made.
However, Kris Boyd has now updated the Ibrox faithful on the hunt for a new manager.
According to The Scottish Sun (1 June), the former Rangers striker believes an appointment will be made “within days” as he insisted that Ancelotti is now the favourite for the job despite it being a “gamble”.
He said: “Sporting director Kevin Thelwell officially starts work this week coming, so I would expect a new head coach to be next through the front door at Ibrox — and within days.
“Davide Ancelotti is favourite, ahead of Russell Martin, after it became clear there would be no romantic return to the club for Steven Gerrard.
“I’ve already said the appointment of Ancelotti would be a gamble. But all managerial appointments come with an element of risk.
“Yes, he’s worked for dad Carlo at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG and Napoli.
“But the buck stopped with the old man when things went wrong, and Ancelotti jnr was insulated from any criticism.”

Ancelotti needs to be given time at Rangers
With rumours circulating that Ancelotti could be appointed soon, the Ibrox faithful need to be patient with the Italian.
It will be the 35-year-old’s first job as a manager, as he is likely to get multiple things wrong in the opening months.

Bayern Munich assistant manager | 2016-17 |
Napoli assistant manager | 2018-19 |
Everton assistant manager | 2019-21 |
Real Madrid assistant manager | 2021-25 |
However, it is clear that the upcoming coach has potential, and once he has got his bearings, Ancelotti could start a dynasty at Ibrox.
Hopefully, the 49ers also remain patient and do not make any rash decisions if his opening results aren’t perfect.
Yet, despite his inexperience, Ancelotti could equally have a unbelievable start to his Rangers career.
