Hugh Keevins hits back at Rangers fan after takeover announcement live on air

Rangers have finally had their takeover by the 49ers Enterprises confirmed, and fans at Ibrox are more excited than ever about the future.

The Gers have endured a dismal few years as it is now four seasons since they lifted the Scottish Premiership title, but there is a lot of cause for optimism.

The 49ers Enterprises have promised to lead Rangers into a new era with significant investment, but there is still scepticism from the other side of Glasgow.

Hugh Keevins has now sought to calm Rangers’ heads, after one fan claimed that the takeover has already ended Celtic’s dominance.

Keevins slams Rangers fan after 49ers Enterprises claim

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, a Rangers fan claimed that Celtic’s stronghold over Scottish football has officially ended after the takeover from the 49ers, but Keevins was keen to deny these claims.

“It’s an amazing day, a massive, massive day for the club. The tides are going to turn. Celtic’s dominance is done, finished,” the Rangers fan claimed.

Keevins claimed that while Rangers fans should be happy, he was quick to point out that this talk may be coming too soon.

“I don’t deny any Rangers fan their feelings of excitement and anticipation, but to say Celtic’s dominance is done is slightly premature,” Keevins responded.

The Rangers fan then claimed that Keevins previously agreed with him, although he quickly urged him to rethink his sources.

“Off you go now,” Keevins responded.

Rangers embark on new era under 49ers ownership

Rangers fans have every right to be excited, given how dismal this season was, and the scale of the rebuild they will undertake under the new ownership.

However, there is plenty of work to be done to close the gap to Celtic, who again won the Scottish Premiership with ease this season.

A new manager will need to be appointed, with Davide Ancelotti a front-runner for the role, while a lot of changes will need to be made in the summer transfer window.

The Italian coming in would no doubt kickstart wild rumours at Ibrox that will only add to this excitement, but the proof will be in the pudding.

Despite some of the excitement perhaps coming too early, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic after what has been a difficult few years for Rangers fans, and the next step will be for the 49ers to implement their long-term strategy for success.
