Rangers are understood to be closing in on making their manager appointment ahead of the new season.

The 49ers Enterprises are on the cusp of finalising their takeover with an announcement understood to be imminent.

One of their first actions will likely be to finalise the appointment of the next permanent manager.

Davide Ancelotti given 99 per cent chance to become the manager

According to Sesta Sporta journalist Michael Bufalino (30 May), Davide Ancelotti is given a 99 per cent chance to be the next Gers manager.

Pisa did make contact to hire the Italian, given his good relationships with their CEO, but that is not expected to materialise, he claims.

The 35-year-old is expected to start his managerial career away from Italy and most likely it will be at Ibrox.

He has not joined his father Carlo Ancelotti who took over the Brazil national team, a clear indicator that he wants to become a number one.

Rangers could announce Ancelotti once the takeover is finalised

Once 49ers Enterprises officially announce their takeover, expected imminently, they are likely to move swiftly to appoint Ancelotti as manager, capitalising on the momentum of their acquisition.

The 35-year-old, son of legendary coach Carlo, mirrors Gerrard’s 2018 appointment – a high-profile name with a towering reputation but no prior senior managerial experience.

Davide’s extensive assistant coaching stints under his father at elite clubs like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have equipped him with tactical acumen and a deep understanding of high-pressure environments, making him an ambitious choice for Rangers’ Champions League aspirations.

His stature aligns with the 49ers’ vision of a bold, modern approach to elevate the club against Celtic.

The appointment would signal intent, leveraging Davide’s pedigree while allowing the 49ers to implement their data-driven recruitment and infrastructure plans.

However, like Gerrard, Ancelotti’s success will hinge on adapting quickly to the Scottish Premiership’s intensity and managing fan expectations at Ibrox.
