Davide Ancelotti latest: Italian decides on Rangers job after new twist
The Davide Ancelotti saga seems a step closer to a conclusion at Rangers.
The Italian has been touted as a contender for the Ibrox role for weeks but there were conflicting reports over whether he wanted the job.
There was speculation that he was set to join his father, Carlo Ancelotti, within the Brazil set up but it appears that the path has been cleared for a Govan appointment.

Ancelotti makes Rangers decision
Ex-Real Madrid coach Ancelotti left the 49ers hierarchy impressed and looking to strike a quick agreement after meeting with them.
A report from the Daily Mirror’s print edition (30 May, page 56) claims that the Italian has emerged as the frontrunner for the post once again.
It states that he is ready to take on his first managerial role after talks with the Auchenhowie outfit.
The development comes after Steven Gerrard reportedly ruled himself out of the running, leaving the young coach as the leading candidate.

Rangers need Ancelotti appointment to pay off
It seems like it is only a matter of time before Ancelotti takes the reins at Ibrox, with the Light Blues finally closing in on his services.
It is a risky appointment, given his lack of senior managerial experience and the size of the Govan club, it could be an intimidating first role and may set them back in their attempts to catch arch-rivals Celtic domestically.
Club | Role | Tenure |
Real Madrid | Assistant Manager | 2021-2025 |
Everton | Assistant Manager | 2019-2021 |
Napoli | Assistant Manager | 2018-2019 |
Bayern Munich | Assistant Manager | 2016-2017 |
Ex-Gers boss Mark Warburton has warned the 35-year-old not to take the task lightly as expectations are always high in Glasgow.
However, he also comes with years working under arguably the greatest manager in world football, and his connections with the likes of Madrid, Bayern Munich and Everton could benefit the Gers in the transfer market.
The likes of David Alaba and Ferland Mendy have been linked if the rookie coach is handed the job, which would serve to ease the transition into management and Scottish football if he could bring them with him.
The Italian is unproven but that can be a positive, he could be exactly what the Bears need to turn their fortunes around, with a new tactical blueprint and a fearless nature to swing the axe.
Whether he can step from his father’s shadow, remains to be seen.
