Cavenagh arrives as Rangers talks scheduled after Farioli development
Rangers are still without a permanent manager at Ibrox as the start of June approaches.
The 49ers are set to take over the Gers and are part of the process of hiring a new manager for the team.
Steven Gerrard was linked with a sensational return to Rangers, but the Liverpool legend has now pulled out of the race.
Davide Ancelotti remains in the race for the job, while Francesco Farioli has also been previously linked.

Rangers ‘assessing’ Francesco Farioli appointment as Cavenagh holds manager talks
Ancelotti is the current favourite to take over Rangers, with Andrew Cavenagh reportedly flying out to hold discussions with the former Real Madrid assistant manager.
However, the Italian is not the Gers manager yet, and now reports claim that other candidates may still have a shot of the job in Glasgow.
According to the Scottish Daily Mail, back page, (30 May), Rangers are still “assessing” other candidates, with Farioli among those mentioned.
The former Ajax manager left the Dutch giants in May 2025 after he failed to guide them to the title.
Farioli has held talks with Rangers previously in 2022, but Michael Beale was chosen to lead the Gers instead.
Brian Priske also remains a candidate, but Ancelotti and Russell Martin are the main contenders for the job.
Now that Gerrard has pulled out, Cavenagh is set to hold talks with more managers in the coming days after travelling to Europe this week.

Rangers need to avoid Farioli
While Farioli is a good manager, Rangers need to avoid appointing the Italian.
The 36-year-old is fresh off the back of a shocking Ajax campaign where the Dutch giants bottled a nine-point lead with five matches to go.
Having left Ajax so recently, Farioli has had no time to reflect on his time in the Netherlands and how it went so wrong.

If Rangers appointed the Italian so quickly after this failure, it is doomed to end in a disaster.
The 49ers need to make sure that they get their first appointment right at Ibrox and cannot take needless risks.
