Tom English sarcastically reacts after what Dave King revealed about new Rangers boss
Tom English hasn’t held back in his reaction to Dave King as Rangers continue their search for a new manager.
The Gers have been on the hunt for a new permanent head coach for many months without yet completing a deal at Ibrox.
This has most recently seen Davide Ancelotti be linked to the role as the new Light Blues hierarchy looks to give their new side a forward direction.
With that in mind, English has now spoken out after what he’s seen sizable shareholder King say in the mission to bring in a new manager for the Govan club.

English hits out at King in Rangers manager update
It does feel as if the search for a new man to lead the Gers into the new Scottish Premiership season has been sizable at this stage.
There has been no shortage of links with former Real Madrid assistant Ancelotti seemingly being the favourite as it stands.
Although that may be the case, many see the Italian as a risk given his lack of experience as a head coach in his own right.
As a result, many have suggested that former boss Steven Gerrard would prove to be a better option despite his previous departure to Aston Villa.
The 44-year-old has also emerged as a target at Ibrox after failed spells at Villa Park and Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ettifaq.
Stat | Rangers | Aston Villa | Al-Ettifaq |
Games | 213 | 40 | 55 |
Wins | 145 (65%) | 13 (33%) | 19 (35%) |
Draws | 41 | 8 | 16 |
Losses | 27 | 19 | 20 |
This has seen English speak out via X on 29 May after shareholder King shared his verdict that the Englishman never wanted to leave Govan to join Villa in the first place.
In a seemingly sarcastic reaction, he said: “Through the media, Dave King saying that Steven Gerrard never really wanted to leave Rangers, would have won the title again had he stayed and should now be reappointed, while also advising the prospective new owners on how to spend their money. Some man.”
Rangers could still hire Gerrard
There is no doubt that the Liverpool legend would represent a well-recieved return after winning the league in his previous spell.
This could help to bring the likes of Jordan Henderson in at Ibrox, in a deal which could represent a coup for the Light Blues in the summer.
With that being said, after such a difficult spell in the Premier League and the Middle East, it could represent a risk.
That isn’t to say that Ancelotti would be without risk, without any experience as a manager, but he has certainly worked at the top level.
If both of these options are being considered in G51, it appears that the Govan club could be in for a very interesting campaign.
