Rangers are looking to finally wrap up their hunt for a new manager after months of searching.

Interim manager Barry Ferguson has now left the Gers post after a short spell at Ibrox.

Now the race is on for the 49ers to secure a manager before the transfer window begins in June.

Steven Gerrard has reportedly rejected Rangers after reports suggested he could make a return to Scotland.

Davide Ancelotti is now one of the clear favourites for the position as the Glasgow club faces competition for his signature.

Deportivo de la Coruna show interest in Ancelotti amid Rangers talks

Ancelotti looked set to move to Rangers and finally end the Gers’ search for a new manager.

The Italian has been Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant for the past decade and spent the 2024/25 campaign at Real Madrid.

Now, the Italian is looking for his next opportunity, with Rangers set to fly to Spain for talks with Ancelotti.

However, his move to Ibrox could now be in doubt after Deportivo de la Coruna have shown late interest in the upcoming coach. 

According to Estadio Deportivo (29 May), the Spanish club have the Italian on their shortlist of options to replace Óscar Gilsanz, who is facing an uncertain future.

This has apparently “caught the eye” of Ancelotti, despite his ongoing talks with Rangers.

Rangers need to be quick to wrap up Ancelotti deal

The longer that this Ancelotti saga goes on, the more likely it is that the Italian has his head turned by other clubs.

This cannot be allowed to happen, and Rangers must speed up their talks with the upcoming coach.

It is clear that the 49ers want the Italian to join Ibrox this summer, and they must go all out to secure the deal.

Ancelotti has massive potential as a manager and links across all of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Hopefully, by the end of the week, Rangers have wrapped up the deal for Ancelotti.
