Cavenagh jets in for direct manager talks as Rangers close in on new appointment
Andrew Cavenagh is set to fly to Europe to continue manager discussions at Rangers.
The man linking up with the 49ers as part of a takeover consortium at Ibrox has been a frequent visitor to Govan in recent months.
Although no deal has gone through as it stands for the Light Blues, there has been work from the US businessman to get his side ready for the new campaign.
This has seen a replacement for Barry Ferguson eyed for many weeks, with Cavenagh set to jet in to continue talks over the vacant role in G51.

It is certainly positive to see the billionaire investor take such a keen interest in the Gers before the takeover has been completed.
This has seen the American play a key role in managerial talks as the need for a permanent head coach have rumbled on for many months.
After Philippe Clement’s unsurprising exit, Ferguson took up the role on a temporary basis, but wasn’t afforded the chance to continue.
Now the Daily Mail have reported (28 May) that Davide Ancelotti remains as the front runner to take up the baton from the Scot.
The 35-year-old has already held face-to-face talks with members of the Gers hierarchy, with Cavenagh set to fly into Europe for direct talks in the final stages of a potential appointment.
This will see the health tycoon also meet up with Patrick Stewart, Kevin Thelwell and Gretar Steinsson for conversations, but the manager situation remains as his top priority.

There is no doubt that the former Real Madrid assistant represents a risk as a manager given his lack of experience in that role.
With that being said, having sat alongside his dad, Carlo Ancelotti, across a nearly 10-year-long career, he has overseen plenty of top-level football

This could certainly serve the Italian well as the hierarchy at Ibrox appears to be sold on the prospect of hiring him, ready for the Scottish Premiership season.
It will certainly be interesting to see how soon Ancelotti comes in and if he can succeed, especially after being chosen ahead of someone like Steven Gerrard.
