Rangers ‘to seal sensational Henderson transfer’ after Fabrizio Romano update

Rangers may prepare a blockbuster transfer for Jordan Henderson in the upcoming transfer window.

The Gers have been linked with the 34-year-old, as talks of Steven Gerrard returning to Ibrox have intensified recently.

Barry Ferguson wasn’t in Andrew Cavengah’s plans at the Light Blues, and the American is now set to hold talks with potential managerial candidates.

The Glaswegian outfit won the Scottish Premiership title under the Liverpool icon, and his appointment may see the Ajax midfielder follow in his former teammate’s footsteps.

Henderson to decide on Ajax future amid Rangers links

Henderson is set to decide on his future at Ajax in May ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist revealed on X (27 May) that the Premier League and Champions League-winning star is attracting interest away from the Eredivisie outfit.

It’s been claimed that the 34-year-old legendary midfielder has an option to trigger an additional year at the Johan Cruyff Arena, but it remains to be seen what happens.

If the Gers appoint Gerrard, they’ll undoubtedly have a chance to seal a sensational transfer for Henderson at Ibrox.

The midfielder joined Liverpool in 2011 and played alongside the 44-year-old until 2015, before he embarked on a career in management.

Considering the history between the two, the Light Blues may have an edge over other interested clubs if they make an approach to sign him after appointing Gerrard.

Gerrard return makes sense at Ibrox

Davide Ancelotti is seen as the front-runner at Ibrox as Rangers continue their search for a permanent manager.

Cavenagh could also decide to appoint Russell Martin, but his arrival in the Light Blues’ dugout wouldn’t excite many fans.

Gerrard feels like the right option for the Bears, considering his experience and success in the Scottish Premiership.

The 44-year-old could potentially utilise his connections to sign players like Henderson and others of similar quality from around Europe, as the Gers hope to bring trophies back to G51.

While the Ajax midfielder isn’t in his prime, he still possesses the talent and leadership to guide the Light Blues back to the top.

It’ll be interesting to see what the 34-year-old decides with his future and whether the Bears will be in the frame to make a move.
