Rangers new manager to take first press conference with ‘foolish’ Ibrox message
Rangers supporters are hoping for an update on the managerial situation at Ibrox this week.
Since the exit of Barry Ferguson as interim boss, there has been plenty of chatter in Glasgow about who will be his permanent replacement.
However, despite an appointment initially being expected at the end of last week, Rangers are yet to make an announcement.
It has been reported, though, that things are progressing in the right direction and the first actions of an incoming manager are already being mooted.

Rangers ready new manager press conference
There are several names that have been linked with moves to Ibrox to take the hot seat and all eyes are on the 49ers, who have a decision to make about the direction they want to move in.
The American investors are set to complete the takeover in mid-June, but having the foundations in place allows them to hit the ground running.
Davide Ancelotti has re-emerged as a frontrunner for the role at Ibrox, while a return for Steven Gerrard continues to be spoken about too.
Whoever ends up in the role has already been delivered a warning by Scott McDermott, which also highlights the importance of making an appointment in the coming days.
Writing in the Daily Record (27 May, page 46), McDermott said: “No doubt at his first press conference he will say he needs time. But after what happened a year ago, that would be foolish.
“The club cannot afford to write off another campaign so flimsily due to a lack of preparation, planning or organisation.
“If they do? Well, come October, November, and December, Celtic and Brendan Rodgers will have five in a row wrapped up. Just ask Clement.”

49ers have to act at Ibrox
It’s understandable why the incoming owners want to take time when it comes to a decision over the managerial situation at Ibrox.
However, by the time they arrive in Glasgow with a deal agreed, there won’t be much time at all until pre-season gets underway and preparation is key.
As McDermott says, Celtic will be well underway with their preparations for next term, already putting them ahead of their rivals, which the Gers really can’t afford to do if they are to compete.
Team | Position | Goal Difference | Points |
Celtic | 1 | 86 | 92 |
Rangers | 2 | 39 | 75 |
It is a decision to take care with, but the 49ers must strike sooner rather than later to allow work to be started for next season.
Ancelotti and Gerrard are at opposite ends of the spectrum, with one a complete risk, while the other a return to yesteryear, but the 49ers must choose what impression they want to give upon a start to life in Glasgow.
Supporters at Ibrox will have to be patient when it comes to growth, but another season similar to this one will not be tolerated.
