Rangers chiefs ready for new talks as managers wait by phone for final answer
Rangers could finally announce their new permanent manager this week.
The 49ers Enterprises are pushing to complete their takeover at Ibrox, with Gretar Steinsson overseeing the manager hunt alongside Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart.
Although the Americans are not officially in the door in Govan, a new manager is likely before Paraag Marathe and Andrew Cavenagh get their deal across the line.
Those in the running appear to be closer to that final answer.

Rangers get ready to announce new manager
The Daily Record has reported that those in contention are waiting by the phone for a final answer, with updates needed from Ibrox.
Rangers chiefs could initiate another round of talks at the start of this week, as they cut down their shortlist to finally replace Philippe Clement and Barry Ferguson.
Russell Martin, Davide Ancelotti and Brian Priske are all mentioned as possible options for Steinsson and his team, with rumours surrounding Steven Gerrard going quiet.
Gerrard was at Anfield on 25 May to watch Liverpool lift the Premier League title, so he is close enough to be involved in any final round of talks, if wanted.

Ancelotti top of pile at Ibrox
Despite new names coming and going at Rangers, the one that has remained through thick and thin, is Ancelotti, following his official Real Madrid exit.
With Carlo already flying out to Brazil without him, it only adds fuel to the fire that the young Italian could be sticking around with final talks at Rangers on the cards.
After years of assistant work at the world’s biggest clubs under his father, maybe it is finally time for him to leave the nest and make a real name for himself.
Club | Role | Tenure |
Real Madrid | Assistant Manager | 2021-2025 |
Everton | Assistant Manager | 2019-2021 |
Napoli | Assistant Manager | 2018-2019 |
Bayern Munich | Assistant Manager | 2016-2017 |
With the season now officially over, all eyes are on the Rangers squad returning on June 23, as they prepare for crucial Champions League qualifiers.
Qualification back to Europe’s top table would be massive, and whoever the new manager is must make that and new transfers for this weakened squad their immediate priority.
