Ferguson hits out amid ‘naughty’ Igamane development at Rangers – Exclusive
Hamza Igamane was a rare bright spark for Rangers in an otherwise disappointing 2025-25 campaign.
The Morocco international was crowned Young Player of the Season after netting 11 goals in 29 Scottish Premiership outings.
Igamane’s form dropped off towards the end of the campaign, but there is no doubt he is a player Rangers could do with next season.
However, Igamane continues to be linked with an Ibrox exit ahead of the summer transfer window officially opening for business.
An array of clubs have been linked with the forward, from Everton and Newcastle United in the Premier League, to teams in Serie A, LaLiga and Ligue 1.
Indeed, French high-flyers Strasbourg are said to be the latest team showing an interest in Igamane.

Igamane linked with Rangers exit
Amid the transfer chatter surrounding the Moroccan, Derek Ferguson wonder if it could be the player’s agent at play.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Ferguson said: “It sounds like it [could be the agent]. He didn’t have so much game time towards the end of the season, but you have to remember he’s a young boy in a new environment.
“These are the guys we need to look at and say ‘we should build the team around him’. But yeah, that’s the agent’s job and it can be quite naughty sometimes. The agent can sometimes be the one that sways a player to move.”
Rangers 2024/25 | Appearances | Goals | Assists |

Igamane is under contract with Rangers until 2029, meaning the ball is very much in the Gers’ court.

Rangers need to build side around Igamane
While there are serious question marks over a number of Rangers players, Igamane is the ideal type of player to build the side around.
At just 22 years of age, Igamane’s best years are still ahead of him and he will land the Gers a huge profit down the line.
However, hopefully a sale can wait for a year or two, rather than this upcoming summer transfer window.
It is clear that a number of new signings are required over the next few months, but retaining star players such as Nico Raskin and Igamane is just as important.
